THE 1000 DUNAS EXPERIENCE

During a high-intensity week, you’ll set out from Granada, then cross the Mediterranean Sea on a ferry from Motril to Nador. You’ll ride through the land of the Berbers in the Atlas Mountains, where you might even encounter the first snowfalls of the season. Then you’ll descend the mountains southbound into the desert terrains of Morocco to arrive at the peaks of the great dunes of Erg Chebbi.

On the way back, filled with the strength the spirit of the desert provides, you’ll traverse the more unexplored lands of Morocco from Merzouga to Nador in the stages of the rally that will most test your endurance.

Raid stages

Throughout all of the 1000 DUNAS 1000 stages navigational skill reigns supreme, as they are designed to test your abilities as a rider: endurance, negotiating the dunes, off-course riding, strategy, etc. A design handmade by Miguel Puertas, our Sporting Director. Miguel is a man of adventure, a jet raider who's participated 11 times in the Dakar Rally finishing it 9 times, and Sporting Director of the best private off-road team from 2015 to 2018 Himoinsa Racing Team.

This year, at the Erg of Merzouga, we return with our legendary stage, “The 13 Peaks.”After all the riders take off from the start line, they will cover the 150 kms of SAND ONLY trail, from where the PRO and ELITE category riders will have to reach the top of the Erg Chebbi’s 13 highest super dunes to prove the worth of their WP in this special stage and demonstrate their abilities. An ideal stage to show your riding ability and ability to negotiate the dunes.

El 1000 DUNAS es el único raid que puedes realizarlo de una manera individual o por equipos de tres raideros que pueden ser mixtos. Esta opción está pensada para aquellos raideros que quieran vivir la experiencia 1000 DUNAS en conjunto y que quieran experimentar el espíritu de equipo de una manera intensa. Un desafío para las categorías TRAIL, CLÁSICAS, HARD TRAIL Y ADVENTURE en donde para ser “finisher” tendrás que llegar a meta con todos los integrantes de tu equipo.

Dos etapas SUPER-MARATHON STAGES

El 1000 DUNAS es un raid donde tras siete días debes tener las sensación de aventura más intensa y completa posible y la etapa supermaratón da ese punto de inflexión para que sea así. Este año pondremos a prueba la resistencia de los raideros con dos etapas con este formato.

“The RACERED 1000 DUNAS isn’t a new test for me, but Miguel Puertas exceeds himself year after year, and the truth is it was a real battle for me. The special stages were fantastic; the roadbook was perfect, the stages presented us with a crazy amount of mileage and tricky navigational stretches, we spent 10 hours a day on the bike and each day we arrived at night to the campsite. Also, the route in its entirety was impossible to complete in just a few days, just another test from Miguel to force us to stray from the main course and make us challenge ourselves mentally.”
